Mozambique memories

April 2, Mozambique

Today we are in  Maputo, Mozambique.  This is a country in Africa.  It is just South West of Madagascar and North of South Africa.

Eiffel's train station
We went on a highlight tour of the city.   We saw the Railroad Station that was built in 1910 by Gustav Eiffel.  This is the same man who built the Eiffel Tower in Paris.  It is in great shape.  There were 2 old train engines to look at.

central market vegetables
After this stop, we went to the Central Market.  They were selling lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.  They were also selling fish, shrimp and crabs.  I bought lemons here.  They look different than home because they are green and bumpy.  Grandpa bought hot chili peppers for the guys on the ship.

After this we went to a building made out of Iron.  It was also built by Mr. Eiffel.  It wasn’t such a good choice of materials for a hot climate.  It was warm inside.

The biggest stop was at the Natural History museum.  We saw lots of animals from here.  They also had stuff from their history to look at.

Next we went to a big market where they sold handicrafts.  I got a crane that balances on a pole.  It comes apart into pieces.

Our last stop was at the beach.  Mom bought some painted bowls there and we saw that the tide was way out.  This beach area is a resort that they are building.
