Bali fun with monkeys

March 2, 2013 Bali Indonesia

Today we came to Bali.  Bali is one of 10,000 plus islands that make up Indonesia.

Lots of the crew are from there and they got to see their family that day.  We told our cabin stewards, Putu & Fausi to take the day off, all day.  Some of my friends in the crew got off to go home.  That made me sad.

We took a tour with Noman and a driver.  They took us to see how Balinese products are made:  we saw weaving, batik (they use wax and ink to make patterns on cloth), wood carving and Balinese painting.

Then we went to the monkey forest.  Some of the monkeys are mean.  They were in trees and on the ground.  There were moms and babies together.  Some people fed them, we did not.

After that we went for a long drive in the car.  We drove by lots of rice fields and many other plants and trees.  We had lunch with a view of a volcano and a big lake.  It was nice and cool up there.  The lunch was a very good Balinese buffet.

Our last stop was a temple.  It is for the Hindu religion.  They have water that people cleanse themselves in to make them pure.  They also have altars for each of their gods.  I fed the big koi fish there too.

When we were driving we saw lots of ladies carrying baskets on their heads.  We also saw lots of mopeds and motorcycles.  There were kids my age driving the mopeds and there were whole families riding on them.  Babies ride on them with their parents.  I wouldn’t want to ride through the states like that.
