Superb safari day

April 4, Durban, South Africa

crocodile
Today we ended up doing something different than we planned.  We took a taxi out to Phezulu.  They had a reptile area with crocodiles and snakes.  They had the green and black mambas.  They also had a python.  Mom & Grandpa help onto it, I just touched it.

We also saw a show of the Zulus.  They are the tribe from here in South Africa.  They showed us the dance that would be like a man asking to marry a lady. You have to pay 11 cows still today even, it isn’t legend.

The last thing we did here was take a safari game drive.  It was a crazy 4 wheel drive up and down dirt roads.  We saw giraffes up close.  There were 5 of them, one was a 15 day old baby.  We also drove in the field where the zebras and wildebeests were eating.  It was awesome.

Stormy safari

April 3,  Richard’s Bay, South Africa

male elephant
Today we took a safari in the rain.  We saw giraffes and zebras from a ways away.  We saw a Buffalo and some Wildebeests.  While driving we came up on an elephant right next to the road.  One of the ladies got a picture of it rubbing its bum on a stone wall.  It looks like he’s sitting on it.  We are going to try to get that photo from her.  If we do, we will post it on the blog.

We also saw some rhinos up close.  The first time there were 2 in the middle of the road.  We later saw a mom with 2 babies.  At the very end, we saw a mom warthog- you know Pumba, with 3 fat babies.  They were right next to us on the side of the road.

It was a cool day but I wish I saw a cheetah or lion.  The Captain saw a lion so we heard.
