Elephant fun

March 21  Phuket, Thailand

water buffalo
We were in Phuket today.  We took the ship tour to Siam Safari.  We saw demonstrations about making stuff like Coconut pancakes, oils and curry- a type of Thai food.  We saw a water buffalo and how it can plow rice fields.  We got to take a ride in a cart behind it.

We also saw how they make rubber.  It comes from a tree.  They cut the bark and catch the latex in a coconut cup.  This is then put in a roller to make it flat and then they can dry it to make big sheets.  This takes longer but gets them more money if they can wait.

The best part of the day was getting to ride on an elephant.  Mom & I rode on one and Grandma & Grandpa on another.  The trainer, called the Mahut just turns around on his head to take our picture.  Our elephant was named Thaimo.  At the end of the ride, people could feed the elephant fruit.  I got to give it a banana.

The last thing we did was to watch the baby elephant show.  They kicked a ball and one painted a picture.  It was a really fun day.
