Bravo Brazil

Brazil
old jail in fortaleza
The last 2 stops we have made were in Brazil.  The first one was in Fortaleza, we only went shopping here because it was a Sunday and a holiday.  Nothing was open past noon.

local boat on Amazon
Today we went on a boat ride up the Amazon.  We went for a walk in the rainforest.  During the boat ride we saw lots of houses and boats.  We also saw birds and butterflies.

In the forest, we saw a 69 year old man climb up a tree to show us how they pick the acai berries.  We saw lots of plants they eat, including the ones that chocolate comes from.

We also saw a kupak tree like in the story in our rainforest unit.  It is one of the 2 tallest trees in the rainforest.  The other is the brazil nut tree- really called the para nut.  Para is the state where this part of the Amazon is located.

We saw lots of chickens and roosters running around in the forest.  We saw and held a tarantula.  The one we had was a girl, you can tell by her red legs.  I held her on my head.
