Today in Namibia we went to the sand dunes in the Namib Desert. We took 4x4s through the desert. We drove on all the dunes and had lunch in
the desert. I also climbed on several of
the dunes including the one that lead to the ocean waves. We saw wild springbock in the desert and a
wild ostrich. One of the guides dug a
gecko from the sand. I held it in my
hand. It has adapted to its environment
and has very pale skin. It also cannot
see in the sunlight. I helped put it
back in its hole when we were done looking at it
.
There is red sand here that have tons of metal in it. You can use a magnet to separate it from the
red sand. You can also use binoculars to
magnify the different colors and see the different sand parts.

The highlight of the day was driving straight down a
dune. But even better, we went
backwards. We had the owner of the
company driving us. No one else got to
go backwards.

We saw tons of flamingos at a lagoon here also. Some were white and the others were different
shades of pink. That’s because
flamingoes eat shrimp which makes them pink.
The more they eat, the pinker they get.
Hopefully that doesn’t happen to humans because I have been eating a lot
of shrimp cocktails at dinner.
The second day in Namibia we went to the town. We did souvenir shopping.
