Hong Kong Highlights

March 11-13  Hong Kong

We were in Hong Kong for 3 days.  The first day we took the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island where we caught another ferry to Lantau Island.  On Lantau we took a bus to Ngong Ping Village where we saw the Giant Buddha.  We climbed more than 150 steps to get up to the Buddha.  We walked around the statue and inside the temple under the Buddha.  There was a huge gong in the temple area.

we climbed a lot of stairs to get there

After we climbed down, we went to the monastery.

There was a giant room with lots of gold decorations.  We got to see it real quick and then the monk closed it for prayers.  There were big pots with incense burning outside and lots of orange trees and offerings of oranges.  We had lunch at the monastery, it was Chinese food and spring rolls with won tons.

After this we walked through the village where I got a new remote control car.  It is the size of a matchbox car.  We took a cable car back down to Lantau and then took the MTR train back to Kowloon where the ship was.
